Starting your tropical escape to Hawaii

Getting to HawaiiOf the 6,000 square miles that make up the main Hawaiian Islands, 4,000 of those square miles are comprised of the Big Island of Hawaii!  The island offers about anything you can imagine, from world class golf, to great scuba diving, the ironman triathlon world final, and exciting game fishing events.  Over the last few years several airlines have added direct flights to many airports across the Hawaiian islands.  You will find non-stop flights to Kona from many major western USA airports by United Airlines, US Airways, Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Delta, and American Airlines.  Specials are quite common and are offered throughout the year, especially during the slower summer months of June through September.  When you arrive in Kona you'll find yourself in a tropical open air island airport.  It adds so much to the quaint Hawaiian feeling of cool sea breezes, flowers, and white sand beaches.  The airport hosts several car rental companies for your convenience.  We suggest you rent a car as there is so much to explore on the island.

The Big Island areas of interest

The Big IslandTHE BIG ISLAND is Hawaii's largest Island at 4,038 square miles. It is twice the size of all other Hawaiian Islands combined. Parker Ranch, the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, is on the big Island of Hawaii. Near the town of Kamuela, Parker Ranch has about 480,000 acres of land and is home of the world famous Paniolo.  That's Hawaiian for Cowboy! The island is divided in two main areas of interest, the west side is home of Kailua-Kona village, often just called Kona.  This is the dry side of the island.  We offer many vacation rental properties in the direct vicinity of Kona.  Hilo is located on the east side of the island and is characterized by a wet climate.  The town overlooks Hilo Bay, situated upon two shield volcanoes; Mauna Loa, an active volcano, and Mauna Kea, a dormant volcano upon which are sited some of the world's most important ground-based astronomical observatoriesHilo features a tropical rainforest climate, with substantial rainfall throughout the course of the year and this makes it the third wettest designated city in the United States.
